Teslin is the Yukon's Tlingit cultural heartland — the remote Alaska Highway community on the shores of Teslin Lake (one of the Yukon's longest lakes at 141 km) where the Teslin Tlingit Council maintains one of Canada's most vibrant Tlingit cultural programmes — home of the George Johnston Museum (celebrating the photographer who captured Tlingit life in the 1930s and introduced the first car to the Teslin area), a remarkable bi-cultural highway community straddling the Alaska Highway's midpoint.
