Telegraph Creek is BC's most remote incorporated community — the Stikine Country village on the Stikine River (one of the great wild rivers of North America, flowing through the most dramatic mountain wilderness in BC) accessible only by 120 km of unpaved road from Dease Lake, where the restored 1920s Tahitan Trading Post and the Tahltan Nation's traditional territory (the Tahltan are the stewards of 11% of BC's total land area, the largest Indigenous traditional territory per capita in North America) meet the ghost of the Collins Overland Telegraph line (the 1860s project to build a telegraph from San Francisco to Russia via BC and Alaska) — a community of 350 that is the most remote government-incorporated village in British Columbia.
