Rapid City is the Minnedosa River Valley's heritage showcase — the Manitoba community on Rapid Creek where the Rapid City Museum Complex (one of Manitoba's most complete small-town heritage preservation efforts, including a restored schoolhouse, general store, church, and Ukrainian-Canadian farm buildings) tells the story of the diverse ethnic settlement — Ukrainian, English, Scots, Scandinavian — that built western Manitoba's mixed-farming belt in the 1880s-1910s — home of the Riding Mountain region's eastern approach trail network and a community that has been the social hub for the surrounding municipality for 130+ years.
