Murdochville is Gaspésie's abandoned copper ghost town — the remote mountain community built in 1952 to exploit the Gaspe Copper mine (Canada's largest open-pit copper mine in the 1950s) that is now Quebec's most dramatic example of a resource community in transition, surrounded by massive wind farms harnessing the Gaspé highlands' extraordinary wind resources — home of the Gaspe Copper Mine museum and the Centre d'interprétation du cuivre.
