Morris is Manitoba's Flood Capital and Rodeo Centre — the Red River Valley community at the geographic low point of the Red River flood plain where the Morris Floodway (the largest municipal floodway in Manitoba) was built after the catastrophic 1950 flood and where the Canadian Agri-Trade Exhibition (CATE) and the Morris Stampede (the largest outdoor rodeo in western Canada, attracting over 30,000 spectators annually since 1957) make Morris the agricultural fair capital of the Red River Valley — a community that has survived eleven major floods by engineering its way out.
