Massey is the Spanish River's recreational gateway — the Sudbury District community on the Serpent River where the annual Massey Walleye Classic (one of Ontario's finest conservation-run fishing tournaments) draws sport anglers from across Northern Ontario — home of the Massey Area Museum, the Spanish River Forest (the largest remaining old-growth white pine stand in Northern Ontario), and a community that survived the 2012 closure of the Algoma Steel service operations by pivoting to outdoor recreation and the heritage forestry tourism that now defines the Spanish River corridor.
