Kamsack is the Assiniboine Valley's Ukrainian heritage gateway — the southeastern Saskatchewan community on the Assiniboine River where the Cote First Nation and the Ukrainian settler heritage of the 1890s-1910s (Kamsack's surrounding district has the highest density of Ukrainian Catholic churches per square kilometre in Saskatchewan) coexist in one of the province's most culturally layered communities — home of the Duck Mountain Provincial Park gateway, the Kamsack Museum preserving the Ukrainian pioneer heritage, and a community that produced Bobby Clarke (Hockey Hall of Fame, three-time NHL champion).
