Grand Falls is the Gorge City of New Brunswick — the Victoria County community built around the Grand Falls Gorge (one of the largest waterfalls east of Niagara, where the Saint John River drops 23 metres through a granite gorge 1.6 km long) and the Edmundston-area pulp and paper industry that made this bilingual community one of the most economically significant towns in northern New Brunswick — home of the Grand Falls Museum and the La Rochelle Cultural Centre (celebrating the Acadian and Loyalist heritage of the upper Saint John Valley) and a community where hydro power from the falls has driven industry since the 1920s.
