Faro is the Yukon's ghost town that came back to life — the remote community built around the Faro Mine (once the world's largest open-pit lead-zinc mine, producing 85% of the Yukon's mineral output in its peak years) that survived the mine's 1998 closure by pivoting to wildlife tourism — home of the world's largest Dall sheep and caribou populations in the surrounding Pelly Mountains, the Faro Wildlife Interpretive Centre, and one of Canada's most dramatic mine remediation projects.
