Fairview is the Peace Country's agricultural college community — home of Fairview College (now Northwestern Polytechnic's Fairview Campus, offering agriculture, trades, and health sciences in the heart of the Peace Country) and one of the most productive grain farming regions in Alberta despite its location at 56° north — a community connected to Dunvegan Provincial Historic Site (the most significant Northwest Company fur trade post in Alberta) on the Mighty Peace River just south of town.
