Ear Falls is Red Lake District's remote lake country gateway — the tiny Kenora District community on the English River system where the Lac Seul Reservoir (created by a 1929 dam that flooded enormous tracts of Ojibway land, one of Ontario's most consequential historical injustices) feeds the English River hydro system — home of the Lac Seul First Nation's land claim resolution process, trophy walleye and northern pike fishing, and some of Northwestern Ontario's least-explored boreal wilderness.
