Dubreuilville is Algoma District's gold mining and forestry ghost-town-turned-adventure-centre — the remote community near Wawa accessible by Highway 519 where the Murchison Mine and the Dubreuilville gold belt attracted prospectors throughout the 20th century, and where the Magpie River (one of Ontario's finest whitewater rivers for expert kayakers) flows through some of the most spectacular and untouched Canadian Shield landscape in northern Ontario — a community that reinvented itself around ecotourism and ATV trail access after the closure of the Strachan Mine in 2012.
