Capreol is the Canadian National Railway's Great Divide Junction — the Greater Sudbury community where the CNR split into its northern and southern transcontinental routes and where the Canadian Railway Museum of Ontario preserves the largest collection of CNR rolling stock outside of Montreal — home of the Capreol Centennial Museum, the Vermilion River conservation heritage, and a community whose entire identity was built around the railway's selection of Capreol as the operational headquarters for the northern transcontinental corridor through the Canadian Shield.
